Our Custom Design and Build Approach

Our Outdoor Kitchen Design and Installation Process

At AJ Morley Enterprises, we create custom outdoor kitchens designed around the way you cook, entertain, and enjoy your backyard. From the initial property walkthrough to the final inspection, our structured process helps turn your ideas into a functional outdoor cooking and gathering space built for long-term use in the Texas climate.

Designed Around Your Lifestyle

A Clear Process Creates a Better Outdoor Kitchen

A successful outdoor kitchen requires more than selecting a grill and countertop. Layout, cooking habits, appliance clearances, utilities, storage, lighting, drainage, weather exposure, seating, and surrounding hardscape features all influence how the finished space will look and function.

Our six-step process gives every project a clear direction while allowing room for customer input, material selections, design revisions, and site-specific adjustments.

From Consultation to Completion

How We Bring Your Outdoor Kitchen Vision to Life

Each phase builds on the one before it, helping us create a custom outdoor kitchen that supports cooking, entertaining, storage, comfort, and long-term outdoor use.

01
Discovery

Initial Consultation & Property Walkthrough

Every outdoor kitchen project begins with a personalized consultation. We walk the property, review the available space, and discuss how you plan to cook, entertain, serve guests, and use the surrounding outdoor area.

We also discuss your preferred style, budget, appliance ideas, seating needs, shade considerations, and any existing patios, decks, pergolas, fire features, walkways, or landscaping that should be incorporated into the project.

02
Evaluation

Site Analysis, Measurements & Utility Planning

After the consultation, our team evaluates the site in greater detail. We document measurements, access points, grade changes, drainage, weather exposure, existing utilities, and the relationship between the kitchen and nearby entertaining areas.

We also review potential requirements for gas, electricity, water, refrigeration, lighting, ventilation, and appliance clearances so those needs can be considered before construction begins.

03
Design

Custom Layout & Feature Selection

Using the information gathered during the consultation and site assessment, we develop a custom layout suited to your property, cooking preferences, and available space.

The design may include built-in gas, charcoal, or pellet grills, smokers, pizza ovens, side burners, refrigerators, beverage coolers, ice makers, sinks, storage cabinets, stainless steel drawers, lighting, electrical outlets, seating, and preparation areas.

You have an opportunity to review the proposed layout and refine the appliance selections, materials, storage, finishes, and overall appearance before the final scope is approved.

04
Proposal

Material Selections, Proposal & Cost Estimate

Once the layout is established, we help finalize the materials and finishes. Countertop options may include granite, concrete, natural stone, quartz, or other outdoor-suitable products chosen for durability and appearance.

We then prepare a clear proposal outlining the agreed scope, appliances, materials, installation requirements, labor, project phases, anticipated timing, and costs.

The proposal is reviewed with you before scheduling so the project reflects your priorities, design expectations, and available budget.

05
Construction

Site Preparation & Professional Installation

After approval, we schedule the project, organize materials, and prepare the site. Depending on the design, preparation may include clearing, grading, foundation or base work, utility coordination, patio improvements, and staging for construction.

Our team then builds the kitchen structure, installs countertops, cabinetry, storage, cooking equipment, refrigeration, lighting, and other selected components.

When included in the project, we also coordinate surrounding features such as patios, walkways, retaining walls, pergolas, shade structures, fire pits, fireplaces, seating areas, and landscape improvements.

06
Completion

System Review, Final Walkthrough & Care Guidance

When construction is complete, we inspect the finished outdoor kitchen and review the installed components, surfaces, storage, lighting, and surrounding work.

We then complete a final walkthrough with you, address remaining details, and explain the basic operation and care requirements for the appliances, countertops, cabinetry, and other selected features.

Our goal is to leave you with a finished outdoor kitchen that is ready for cooking, entertaining, and creating lasting memories with family and friends.

Why Our Process Works

Detailed Planning Helps Create a More Functional Kitchen

Outdoor kitchens bring together construction, appliances, electrical needs, utility planning, hardscaping, storage, and entertainment space. Reviewing those elements before installation helps reduce conflicts and creates a more organized project.

A structured approach also helps ensure the finished kitchen fits the property, supports the homeowner’s cooking habits, and uses materials selected for Texas weather conditions.

01

Lifestyle-Based Design

The kitchen layout is developed around how you cook, entertain, prepare food, serve guests, and use the backyard.

02

Weather-Resistant Materials

Surfaces, cabinetry, finishes, and structural materials are selected with Texas heat, rain, and seasonal conditions in mind.

03

Integrated Outdoor Living

The kitchen can be coordinated with patios, decks, pergolas, lighting, fire features, walkways, retaining walls, and surrounding landscaping.

04

Professional Completion

The final walkthrough provides an opportunity to review the finished space, confirm the completed scope, and learn how to care for the installed features.
